How to obtain a copy of a company's Corporation Tax Unique Taxpayer Reference
HMRC have provided the following guidance to members on how to ensure you receive the company's Corporation Tax Unique Taxpayer Reference ('CT UTR') efficiently.
1. Update the registered office
Make sure the registered office of the insolvency company has been updated to your address at Companies House.
2. Wait before requesting
Allow at least 10 working days after updating the registered office address before submitting a CT UTR notification request.
3. Submit the request online
Go to Ask for a copy of your Corporation Tax UTR and complete the online notification request.
4. Delivery of the CT UTR
Once processed, the CT UTR will be sent to the registered office address listed at Companies House.
5. Allow time for delivery
Please allow at least 15 working days to receive the written copy of the CT UTR at the registered office address.
6. If it still hasn't arrived
If the CT UTR has not been received after completing the above steps, contact HMRC Corporation Tax Services on 0300 200 3410.
Contacting HMRC's MVL Team - Reminder
From Monday 2 February the process to contact the MVL Team at HMRC will become mandatory. Since the new process was published only 25% of enquiries from Insolvency Practitioners ('IPs') have used the interactive MVL Team Query form.
This interactive form aims to significantly improve the customer experience for IPs.
Members should note that emails to the MVL team that do not utilise the form will not be actioned.
The form will take roughly 10 minutes to complete and leads the user through a series of questions. There is a maximum of 6 sections, but depending on your answers not all sections may require a response.
