R3 & Coronavirus (COVID-19)
09 March 2020
Updated 16 March 2020
On Friday 13 March, R3's Executive Committee and the R3 Executive Committee Consultation Group met to discuss the impact of the ongoing spread of COVID-19. We took into account the prevailing advice from HM Government as well as data from other expert bodies, but most importantly we took account of feedback from you, our members.
We are conscious of the need for R3 to be a responsible corporate citizen. While the data suggest that the chances of contracting COVID-19 are generally low, there are still many unknowns about this virus. We are therefore cancelling or deferring all R3 events scheduled to take place by the end of June 2020. Events scheduled to be held after this date will be reviewed as additional data and advice emerges.
This will, of course, have a significant economic impact on R3 and we are taking immediate actions to mitigate this, which will include delivery of key Annual Conference topics by webinar.
For those of you who have booked and paid for events, the position is as follows:
-
For events which are to be postponed (which includes the Annual Conference and Eastern Conference), we will contact you to discuss your options;
-
For events which are cancelled, we will of course refund you in full.
Thank you for your understanding and continued support of R3. Our Events team will be in contact with all delegates shortly, and we ask for your patience as we go through this process.
We wish you, your families and your practices good health as we navigate this difficult period together.
Best,
Duncan Swift, R3 President
Colin Haig, R3 Vice-President
Liz Bingham, R3 Chief Executive
