Introducing Marsh’s New Delegated Insurance Facility for UK Insolvency Practitioners
12 December 2025
By Zoë Parkes, Head of Restructuring and Recovery at Marsh.
Insurance cover for entities in formal insolvency processes require bespoke insurance arrangements that protect both the Insolvency Practitioner and the insolvent entity. It is vital for cover to be comprehensive and flexible to avoid delaying formal appointments and impacting realisations.
That’s why I’m pleased to share news of Marsh’s new delegated insurance facility, designed specifically to meet the needs of UK insolvency practitioners.
Backed by Intact Insurance (formerly RSA) our new ‘Open Cover’ facility is designed to remove barriers, enabling you to accept appointments with the assurance that you already have the right protection in place. This ultimately supports case management, helps deliver better returns to creditors, and enable more orderly wind-ups.
This exclusive facility offers a Property/Business Interruption limit of up to £60 million and an extensive range of associated covers, providing immediate and robust insurance protection from the moment of your appointment. Whether you’re dealing with Property, Business Interruption, Liability, Motor, Personal Accident, Cargo, Travel, or other key risk areas, this insurance solution is tailored to give you the confidence and flexibility you need to manage complex and challenging appointments.
The facility includes:
- £60 million automatic property damage and business interruption cover limit for acceptable trades.
- £42 million automatic property damage and business interruption cover limit for ‘Refer’ trades.
- £10 million automatic property damage and business interruption cover for unoccupied office premises of non-combustible construction.
- LPA Price Match facility with a £30 million limit, allowing us to match existing insurance cover and costs for qualifying residential or commercial properties.
- Addition of Marine Cargo, Freight Liability and Group Personal Accident/Travel to the automatic cover sections.
- Enhanced automatic cover limits for computer breakdown (£1 million), own plant breakdown (£500,000), and contract works (£5 million).
- 10% rate reduction after 12 months (for qualifying cases) and up to 15% price reduction for occupied residential properties.
- Enhanced claims support – including up to £100,000 for additional costs in complex property damage/business interruption claims and a new £10,000 limit for serious injury claims.
- Risk Management ‘Reward’ which allows for premium discount (for qualifying cases)
One of the biggest advantages of this open cover facility is the immediate protection it provides upon appointment*. It also offers a 60-day discovery period, giving you breathing space to gather risk information before premium calculations are finalised.
This ensures that both cost and coverage are appropriate for each individual appointment, whether you’re trading the business, disposing of assets, or managing other insolvency-related activities.
Importantly the cover is flexible and can be adapted as the case evolves, helping you control costs by paying only for the insurance you need and deferring payment until assets are sold (upon request).
At Marsh, we work closely with insolvency practitioners to understand the scope of coverage and policy limits required for your appointments, adapting insurance requirements to ensure it fits your unique circumstances.
Our new insolvency insurance facility is an exclusive Marsh solution that streamlines the insurance process and provides comprehensive, flexible, and cost-effective coverage for insolvency practitioners. I’m confident this will be a valuable tool to support you in managing your appointments with greater certainty and efficiency.
If you’d like to learn more or discuss how this facility can support your work, please don’t hesitate to get in touch with me ([email protected]) or visit marsh.com today.
