Honorary membership

Who can make a nomination?

Anyone, including R3 members, Council members, staff or non-members. Self-nominations are not accepted.

Does committee or Council service lead automatically to Honorary membership?

No. While greatly valued, involvement in R3 Council or our committees alone does not create an automatic entitlement.

Do Honorary members have voting or AGM rights?

No. Honorary members (other than Past Presidents) do not have voting rights or AGM attendance rights.

Who decides whether a nomination is approved?

The R3 Membership Committee reviews nominations and makes recommendations. Final decisions are made by R3 Council.

How long does Honorary membership last?

Honorary membership is typically awarded for a fixed period of between 1 and 5 years. Only Immediate Past Presidents of R3 are automatically awarded lifetime Honorary membership.

R3 Council may withdraw Honorary membership if new information comes to light regarding conduct.
