Business Advisor Lead, Insolvency Team, HMRC

Alan moved to the Business Delivery Insolvency Team in December 2022 and is based in the Glasgow Regional Office. As part of the Customer Services Group Insolvency team, he is responsible for reviewing and streamlining HMRC’s internal processes to improve the customer journey for Insolvency Practitioners, with IPs being his core customer base. 

Alan previously worked in compliance, but specifically in insolvency and civil asset recovery teams, with around 15 years’ experience in that field, working closely with IPs. This led to him studying for, and attaining, qualifications in the Certificate of Proficiency in Personal Insolvency and the Certificate of Proficiency in Corporate Insolvency. 

Having built strong professional relationships with IP firms over many years, Alan is delighted that External Stakeholder Engagement is also part of his portfolio of work with the Insolvency Team, and is striving to promote more effective engagement between HMRC and private sector insolvency professionals.
