Marc specialises in high-value commercial, banking and financial services disputes, often involving complex financial products, fraud and foreign/ offshore jurisdictions. He is also well-recognised for his legal expertise in digital assets. Described in legal directories as “a driving force” and “a good man to have on your side in a scrap “, he is ranked in Chambers as a leading individual for banking litigation.

Marc has been the lead partner in a number of ground-breaking commercial cases, including Robertson v Persons Unknown, successfully recovering £1million of Bitcoin and obtaining the first ex parte proprietary freezing order over a cryptocurrency given by an English court. He has also advised investors on a £multi-million claim concerning a failed Initial Coin Offering; a lender in relation to a circa-US$50m Bitcoin-denominated loan facility in default; and individual victims of frauds involving cryptocurrencies.

 

Marc has written widely about the law of cryptocurrencies, including contributing a chapter on decentralised autonomous organisations to a Law Society report on blockchain technology (soon to be in its third edition), and spoken to audiences ranging from fraud lawyers and insolvency practitioners in Miami to computer scientists and developers at Imperial College London.
