Simon Whiting - Assistant Director of Policy, The Insolvency Service

Simon is Assistant Director in the Policy team for the Insolvency Service. He has worked on four bills, developing policy, providing instructions for drafting, advising Ministers, and providing support during Parliamentary consideration. This includes the Corporate Insolvency and Governance Bill, which formed part of the Government’s emergency response to the pandemic.

He also worked on the project to restate and modernise the Insolvency Rules for England and Wales, and on a similar project for Scotland. Prior to moving to Policy, Simon worked in Official Receiver’s offices, investigating insolvencies and dealing with the administration of compulsory liquidations and bankruptcies, latterly spending more than ten years as Deputy Official Receiver at Norwich and Ipswich.
