Andrew leads the employment team in Belfast. He has particular experience in advising on HR strategy including restructurings, redundancies and TUPE. He also specialises in complex high value employment litigation as well as  executive departures and enforcement of post-termination restrictions and abuse of confidential information.

Andrew has previously been recommended in the Legal 500, where he is described as "very client friendly" and "incredibly responsive and calm".

Andrew is dual qualified in both Northern Ireland and England & Wales.

 

 

Experience:

  • Advising the former Managing Director of a division of a FTSE 100 Financial company in lengthy Tribunal proceedings.
  • Acting in a very high profile case for age discrimination in the NHS which resulted in the highest award for injury to feelings at that time. 
  • Acted for the Governor of the Tower of London in a high profile whistleblowing case.
  • Advising and representing a technology Plc in lengthy Tribunal proceedings involving a former Board Director.
  • Acted in the case of Oakland v Wellswood a TUPE insolvency case which at the time was a leading case on the application of regulation 8(7).
  • Acted in the case of Ruddick v Reliance Security which was labelled a landmark case in respect of the law on rest breaks for the security industry under the Working Time Regulations.
  • Acted in the largest private sector equal pay litigation in Brierly & Others v Asda Stores.
  • Advising a car manufacturer on trade union recognition issues and strike action
