What to Expect
R3’s 2025 Contentious Insolvency and Creditors Forum takes place on 19 June in London.
This one-day conference will explore issues relevant to creditors and practitioners working in contentious insolvency and asset recovery, including contentious aspects of restructuring and issues arising from cross-border proceedings.
The forum is designed for practitioners with an interest or substantial practice in contentious insolvency and restructuring, bringing together insolvency practitioners, solicitors, barristers, institutional creditors, non-performing loan funds, e-discovery specialists, investigators and litigation funders to network and hear the latest developments in the profession.

- 09:05 – 09:35Opening keynote: Wrongful Trading and the Sequana duty: some lessons from BHS — Wright v Chappell is the first High Court decision to resolve claims against directors for both wrongful trading and breach of the Sequana duty to consider creditors' interests. Mr Justice Leech discusses his decision and the collapse of the high street store.
- 09:35 – 10:25Spotlight on Dubai — This session examines access to information, compelling evidence, enforcement and asset recovery in the UAE, with a focus on Dubai. Speakers will discuss issues relevant to creditors outside the UAE, including matters affecting office holders, and will explore how to locate assets, obtain information, and secure and realise assets from the perspectives of an office holder, creditor and lawyer.
