Helping those facing redundancy

Memorandum of Understanding

In 2009 an MoU between R3, the Insolvency Service and JobCentre Plus (JCP) was launched to help individuals facing redundancy as a result of insolvency. To date, the MOU has helped around 120,000 individuals across the UK. The voluntary partnership has been celebrated and signed by government.

R3 would encourage all members to use this partnership. It ensures that employees facing redundancy get the help that they need from JCP and at the same time allows IPs to concentrate on dealing with the financially distressed business. If IPs are aware that a company is likely to make 20 or more redundancies they should aim to contact JCP at the earliest opportunity.

Your national contacts are Beverly Morris on 0121 626 3261 or bev.morris1@dwp.gsi.gov.uk and Eleanor Paton on 07966 566 838 or eleanor.paton@dwp.gsi.gov.uk

Please see the new JCP factsheet: redundancy information for employees in cases where redundancies will be made.

The 2012 report on the operation of the MoU can be found here.
