Giles Frampton

Giles is a Chartered Accountant and licensed Insolvency Practitioner working as a partner in Richard J Smith & Co, a practice based in the South West which specialises in all types of insolvency. He also acts as an expert witness.

Giles trained with Thomson McLintock & Co in London and then moved to KPMG in Plymouth where he became a partner in 1991. Seeing the benefit of a niche practice dedicated to insolvency and expert witnessing he joined Richard Smith in 1994.

Giles is chairman of R3's Policy Group. He is also a former President of R3 (2014-2015), a member of R3's Council, and General Technical Committee (former Chairman), and until March 2011 was the accounting member of the Lord Chancellors Insolvency Rules Committee. He is co-author of 'Individual Voluntary Arrangements' published by Jordans and lectures on insolvency topics. Giles is also a member of the Academy of Experts.


He is married to Ruth and has two children. In his spare time he is Churchwarden, sings (tenor), watches cricket and gardens.
