The Honourable Mr. Justice Leech Mr Justice Leech sits as a judge in the Chancery Division. In 1988 he was called to the Bar and practised as a barrister at Maitland Chambers and its predecessor 9 Old Square. In 2010 he took silk and in 2014 he became a partner in Herbert Smith Freehills LLP where he headed the Advocacy Unit. In 2019 was appointed a Deputy High Court Judge and in 2021 a full-time High Court Judge. He is also a bencher of Lincoln’s Inn. As a junior Mr Justice Leech had a broad Commercial Chancery practice which included the long-running Thyssen litigation in Bermuda. As a silk, he appeared in all courts and tribunals including the Court of Appeal and Supreme Court. He also appeared in a number of offshore jurisdictions and arbitration centres. Since appointment, his judgments include Chappell v Wright (wrongful trading), Various Claimants v Barclays (section 90A of FSMA), Re AGPS Bondco (Part 26A of the CA 2006) and Thames Water (Part 26A).
