Juana Pulgar – Professor of Business Law, Universidad Complutense de Madrid Juana is Chaired professor in Business Law at the University Complutense of Madrid (Spain) and Academic counsel in Latham & Watkins since 2014. Juana specialises in commercial Law, insolvency Law and corporate/ Restructuring/ Banking resolution. She is a Vice-President of the commercial section of the Spanish Royal Academy of Jurisprudence and legislation (Madrid). She is permanent member of the Spanish General codification Commission since 2011. She has been also a Member of the different Special Sections set up within the Spanish General Codification Commission, since 2008 for the Spanish insolvency and preinsolvency law reform, including the transposition of the European Directive UE 2019/1023 on preventive corporate restructuring. She has also been the President of the working group set up within the Spanish general Codification Commission established by the Ministry of justice in June 2020, in relation to the transposition of the European Directive UE 2019/2121 of the European Parliament and of the council of 27 November 2019 amending Directive (EU) 2017/ 1132 as regards cross – border conversions, mergers and divisions. She has acted as Of Counsel of Latham & Watkins, in some of the most important recent restructuring cases in Spain, such as CELSA or NAVIERA ARMAS. She also runs the prestigious Revista de Insolvencias & reestructuraciones (I&R) published by Iustel and is author of numerous publications on restructuring, corporate and Insolvency Law. Juana Pulgar is also Executive member of the Conference on European Restructuring and Insolvency Law (CERIL) and member of the International Insolvency Institute (III) and the European Banking Institute of the European Central Bank (EBI). She also acts as speaker in various national and international forums specialised on Corporate Governance, financing, restructuring, banks resolution and insolvency. Honoured by the Spanish Great Order "Gran Orden de San Raimundo de Peñafort”.
