R3 is the trade association for the UK’s insolvency, restructuring, advisory, and turnaround professionals. We represent insolvency practitioners, lawyers, turnaround and restructuring experts, students, and others in the profession.
R3 is the leading provider of dedicated education, training and networking events for the insolvency and restructuring profession. The R3 events team runs over 150 events per year, which offers a wide range of educational courses and networking opportunities at local and national levels. Events include: at least 4 residential conferences, full day and half day training, breakfast briefings, webinars, annual dinners, golf days, social and networking events, as well as producing DVDs for resale. 
Job description 
The purpose of the Event’s Organiser is to assist the Events Manager and the wider Events team in the development of a comprehensive training and events programme throughout the UK in a timely, creative and effective manner. They will be proactive in anticipating R3 members’ training and development requirements and produce a cost effective and timely annual training programme which is relevant to R3 members’ needs. The main duties and responsibilities include: 
  • Organisation of R3 events, including but not limited to, one-day and half day courses, breakfast briefings, webinars, social events including annual dinners as well as the provision of support for R3 regional events around the UK.
  • Providing on-site support for courses and conferences across the UK, including registration of delegates, briefing speakers and chairs, venue and delegate management. This involves occasional overnight stays and travelling to and from venues.
  • Liaison with venues and other suppliers including AV companies, filming companies, brochure designers, mail houses and speaker agencies.
  • Liaising with speakers and sponsors over the submission of programme materials and presentations for the events.
  • Assisting in overseeing the expenditure and financial control for relevant event budgets set by the Events Manager as well as striving to exceed financial income targets set for the Events service area.
  • Assist in monitoring, analysing and reporting on financial performance, quality of events and delegate numbers throughout the year, taking agreed appropriate action where necessary.
  • Assembling and producing relevant delegate packs.
  • Producing joining instructions for events.
  • Monitoring and analysis of delegate feedback forms at courses and conferences, reporting back to speakers and relevant committees, and utilising the feedback for service improvement.Maintenance of up-to-date speaker database.
  • Assist in the production of reports from e-target database as required to assist with the marketing function for events.
  • Updating the courses area of the website and creating conference pages.
  • Attending R3 education committee meetings.
Personal specification 
We are looking for an enthusiastic and experienced Events Organiser to join the R3 events team and assist in delivering a seamless, high quality and exciting programme of events to our members and stakeholders. To succeed in this role you will demonstrate effective and professional communication skills as well as the ability to prioritise tasks and work to tight deadlines. Your attention to detail should be immaculate, and have excellent problem solving skills. A passion for events is essential. The following skills are required for this role: 
  • A minimum of 3 years’ experience working in a conference/ events environment, preferably dealing with training courses, workshops and conferences
  • The ability to plan, manage projects and prioritise conflicting deadlines and to deal effectively with changing requirements
  • A self-starter with proven ability to plan and manage events with minimal supervision
  • The ability to build up client and supplier relationships, and negotiate the best possible prices
  • Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal skills will be required
  • Strong numeracy skills and proven ability to manage budgets, identify savings and provide value for money
  • Be proficient in Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Microsoft Outlook
  • Have a good understanding of general marketing and business development principals
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Knowledge of a CRM data base is preferred but not essential
  • Knowledge of InDesign (or other design packages) is preferred but not essential
