R3 is the trade association for the UK’s insolvency, restructuring, advisory, and turnaround professionals. Our members include insolvency practitioners, lawyers, turnaround and restructuring experts, students, and others in the profession.
R3 is the leading provider of dedicated education, training and networking events for the insolvency and restructuring profession. The R3 events team runs over 150 events per year, which offers a wide range of educational courses and networking opportunities at local and national levels. Events include: at least 4 residential conferences, full day and half day CPD training, breakfast briefings, webinars, annual dinners, golf days, social and networking events, as well as producing DVDs for resale. 
Job description 
 
The role requires taking responsibility for the  marketing of R3’s portfolio of national and regional events, working closely with the Business Development and Marketing Executive in marketing and branding R3’s events via its portfolio of products, website and publications.
 
This varied role reports to the Events Manager and sits within the R3 Events team. The successful candidate will be responsible for marketing our portfolio of national and regional courses, conferences and events to ensure increased revenue and increased delegate numbers. This unique marketing role offers the opportunity for self-development, creation of own marketing ideas and the chance to expand  skills across a multitude of marketing formats. 
 
The main duties and responsibilities of the role include:
  1. Development of a consistent, effective brand and ‘house style’ for marketing events materials and promotional copy for use across all R3 events.
  2. Creation of marketing copy, materials and content (eg. brochures, flyers) to successfully market events.
  3. Produce targeted mailing lists for marketing events, as well as researching, developing and identifying new leads to increase attendance at events.
  4. Creation and distribution of events marketing/promotional materials using software including Dotmailer, Quark and InDesign.
  5. Work closely and collaboratively with the Business Development and Marketing Executive and the wider Events team to support a joined-up, cross-organisation marketing plan for all R3 national and regional events.
  6. Work in conjunction with third party designers, printers and mail fulfilment firms to deliver marketing materials to budget and within specified deadlines.
  7. Work closely and collaboratively with all R3 teams and the IT Manager to perform the R3 ‘web editor’ function for events, ensuring that the R3 events website content is up-to-date and effectively promotes the organisation in accordance with R3 branding and web standards.
  8. Delivery of marketing performance and activity analysis for events.
  9. Manage R3's social media accounts (Twitter and LinkedIn) to promote national and regional events.
  10. In conjunction with the Business Development and Marketing Executive, create original and targeted messages for the company’s website and social media promotion.
  11. Support the development of an event marketing communication plan, managing and co-ordinating marketing schedules for mailings, html emails and social media platforms.
  12. Co-ordinate events content for adverts eg. magazine, journals and articles etc.
  13. Prepare marketing statistics and assess the results of marketing campaigns.
  14. Any other duties and responsibilities within the range of the salary grade. 
 
Person specification

We are looking for an enthusiastic and experienced marketing executive to join the R3 events team to market effectively R3’s portfolio of national and regional events. To succeed in this role you must demonstrate that you are self-motivated, efficient and an excellent communicator, both in oral and written communications, all the way up to senior level. A diploma in Marketing or equivalent relevant qualification or experience is required, alongside evidence of Continuous Professional Development. The role requires at least two years’ marketing experience in a conference or events marketing role.
 
You will also demonstrate that you have experience of devising effective and successful direct marketing and communications initiatives for new and existing audiences as well as successfully meeting annual financial targets and budgets. An interest in providing educational courses is advantageous but not essential.
 
The following additional skills and experience are required for the role:
 
  • Experience of developing and managing online and offline promotions from concept to execution
  • Experience of updating website and email campaigns
  • Evidence of effective organisational skills including a sharp focus on attention to detail and accuracy
  • Experience of utilising effective time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Experience of successfully attaining annual financial targets and budgets
  • Experience of report writing, benchmarking and analysis to report on, and analyse performance metrics against KPIs and objectives
  • Proficiency in use of Office applications
  • Ability to influence current and potential customers
  • Ability to effectively promote, and add value to, R3’s products, services, publications and overall value to existing and new members, key clients and stakeholders
  • Ability to represent R3 internally and externally as a credible ambassador
  • Ability to effectively work in a team to achieve results
  • Ability to work well under pressure
  • Excellent and effective copy-writing and proof-reading skills
  • Knowledge of, or ability to gain knowledge of, the insolvency and restructuring profession in the UK to effectively promote R3’s value
  • Knowledge of HTML, Dotmailer, InDesign and Quark or similar.

Additional Contractual Obligations
  • Evening work and travel as required e.g. attend stakeholder meetings, committee meetings and events.
