NP forum

“It was a great opportunity to meet like-minded individuals of a similar grade, whilst at the same time receiving valuable insight into the profession from industry experts.”

What to Expect

Brought to you by the New Professionals Steering Group, R3 are delighted to invite you to the return of the New Professionals Forum on 10 September at Wedlake Bell in London.

This half-day forum is designed for those in the early stages of their careers, focusing on key topics affecting the profession alongside practical insights into professional development and career progression.

The forum offers a valuable opportunity for the New Professional community to get involved, share knowledge, and build connections by networking with peers from across the profession.

Note: A meeting room will be available throughout the afternoon for attendees who may need to take calls or catch up on work. Access will be on a first come, first served basis and we are unable to guarantee availability at specific times.

If you are interested in sponsoring the event, please email Nicola Pogson to find out more.

Programme

  • 12:30Arrival and registration

  • 13:00Welcome remarks

  • 13:05How to turn a room full of strangers into a career full of work

Networking advice is broken. “Be everywhere.” “People buy from people.” None of it is quite true. For new professionals without a track record yet, it can do more harm than good.

In this interactive session, Marvee-Lisa shares what actually turns a room full of strangers into a career full of work, in a way that doesn’t feel like selling. It’s the same approach she used to build Postworks from zero to near eight-figure revenue in nine years, as Co-founder and CEO.

    Speaker:

    Marvee Lisa-Booker, CEO, Postworks

  • 13:35Economic outlook

Jack will explore how the war in Iran is reshaping the economic outlook — from energy prices and inflation risks to the growing pressure on households and businesses. This presentation will examine how politics and geopolitics are once again driving the economy, why the UK is particularly exposed to global shocks, and whether Britain is heading towards another cost of living crisis.

    Speaker:

    Jack Wellard, Research Economist, RSM

  • 14:20Networking break

  • 14:50How the insolvency ecosystem fits together

Insolvency appointments rarely involve a single adviser. Join representatives from across the profession, including valuation, legal and enforcement specialists, as they explore how different stakeholders work together throughout an insolvency case. Designed for those early in their careers, this practical panel will help attendees understand who does what, when to involve them, and how strong cross-professional relationships contribute to successful outcomes.

    Speakers:

Lucy Jordan, Senior Enforcement Associate, Equivo

Zuzanna Kostyra, Civil Litigator and Advocate, Wedlake Bell LLP

    Olivia Proudley, Director, Proudley Associates

    Chair:

    Jessica Barker, Associate Director, Xeinadin

  • 15:35The first meeting with directors

    Speakers:

    Heather Morris, Partner, Harrison Drury

    Alessandro Sidoli, Managing Partner, Xeinadin

  • 16:15Stress management awareness: The 3 R’s

This practical session helps participants understand what stress is, how it impacts the mind and body and why managing our response is one of the most important skills for long-term wellbeing. Using the 3 R’s of Stress Management: Response, Recovery and Reflection, the session explores how we can recognise our stress triggers, regulate our reactions, prioritise meaningful recovery and use reflection to learn from our experiences rather than simply survive them.

    Speaker:

    Hannah Murray, Seed Wellbeing
