Stefan Ramel - Barrister, Guildhall Chambers

Stefan is a specialist Insolvency and Commercial barrister who undertakes litigation and advisory work in all aspects of Insolvency and Commercial litigation, including Banking & Finance, Company Law, and Professional Negligence.

He is recognised by the legal directories as a leading junior in Insolvency, Commercial, Company, Banking and Finance and Partnership work. He is described as a “superbly strong junior” (C&P 2024), a “go-to counsel and fantastic to work with” (C&P 2024) and as being “very technically sound and excellent at cross-examination” (C&P 2024).

Stefan’s recent insolvency work includes acting on behalf of a landlord challenging a restructuring plan (Re Fitness First Clubs [2023] EWHC 1699 (Ch)), appearing in the Hospital Medical Group litigation (Henderson and Jones Ltd v Ross [2023] EWHC 1276 (Ch)), a multi-faceted claim (including under s. 423), and several cross-border cases involving the Channel Islands, an English castle and complex Russian bankruptcies (Hamilton v Attorney-General [2022] EWHC 2132 (Ch) and Re Yurov [2022] EWHC 2112 (Ch)). 

Stefan is a member of the Chancery Bar Association, Insol Europe, the Insolvency Lawyers Association and R3. He is also on the Attorney General’s Panel of Junior Counsel to the Crown (A Panel). He was appointed a Recorder in 2023.
