Samantha Poulton - Associate, Pinsent Masons

Samantha is an associate in the Manchester office of Pinsent Masons. She has experience in advising clients and insolvency practitioners on a wide range of corporate restructuring issues including formal and informal insolvency procedures and transactional restructuring and rescue options, with a particular strong focus on the energy sector and special administration regimes. Sam has been developing her expertise in energy sector insolvencies since 2019.  She took the lead on several energy supply company insolvencies in 2021 and 2022, providing directors’ duties advice, acting for insolvency practitioners on their appointments, and acting for the appointed supplier of last resort in negotiating with insolvency practitioners. She was also integral to the firm’s role advising the proposed administrators on the second ever special energy administration contingency planning exercise, and advising a challenger to the Bulb/Octopus sale.
