R3 is delighted to announce our first major face-to-face networking and thought leadership event since the start of the pandemic.

Our Getting Back to Business Lunch, taking place from 12:30-18:30 on Friday 8 October at the Royal Lancaster Hotel, will be the perfect opportunity for members of the profession to reconnect with friends and colleagues, establish new contacts and, in a relaxed but professional environment, discuss how the insolvency and restructuring profession can support the UK’s economic recovery.

We will be joined by highly experienced broadcaster and economist, Dharshini David, BBC's Global Trade Correspondent as she shares her thoughts on the state of the UK economy, and the things acting as a boost, and a weight, on its recovery.

Dharshini David

Dharshini is a broadcaster, economist and author, who has extensive experience as a keynote speaker and conference chair.

A highly experienced broadcaster and economist, Dharshini covers financial news for the BBC. She is currently covering BBC’s Economics Editor’s brief across national TV and Radio and online and presents business news for Radio 4’s Today programme. She is as comfortable holding policymakers to account as explaining complex concepts to general audiences. She started her career as an economist in government, and was subsequently HSBC Investment Bank’s UK Economist. She left the trading floor to cover financial stories for the BBC in London and went on to present Panorama and the BBC’s Wall Street coverage from New York as the financial crisis took hold. She has also present-ed business, political and general news programmes for Sky News, including the flagship “Sky News Tonight” show alongside Adam Boulton.

Career
Recruited by the BBC initially as an economics correspondent for national news bulletins, she went on to present Panorama and the BBC’s Wall Street coverage from New York as the financial crisis took hold. A versatile broadcaster, she also presents general and political news programmes, and co-presented Sky’s flagship “Sky News Tonight” programme alongside Adam Boulton.

Her career has included working as an economist in the City, where she was HSBC Investment Bank’s UK Economist, and government. During her career, Dharshini has advised Tesco's board, and its then CEO Sir Terry Leahy, on broadcast media strategy, acted as an economic consultant to Daiwa Bank, and sat as a non-executive member of one the Financial Conduct Authority’s boards.

Author
Dharshini is the author of the “The Almighty Dollar” (Elliott & Thompson 2018) which explains in accessible terms the economic foundations that underpin the modern world. Now freelance, Dharshini provides economic commentary on domestic and international issues across a range of print, broadcast and specialist outlets and is a presenter for several programmes including Today on Radio 4.
