Richard Goddard

Richard has in excess of 15 years insolvency experience across a broad spectrum of industry sectors, with a number of middle tier firms in Birmingham & London. He spent 5 years in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, with De Chazal Du Mée establishing a sub-saharan regional corporate recovery practice, working on various assignments in Tanzania, Kenya, Zambia and Mauritius. Thereafter, he took a career break to be a full time father and UN diplomatic spouse living in New York, Istanbul & Chisinau (Moldova) before returning to corporate recovery in 2008.

Richard is currently, a non-appointment taking insolvency Director with Begbies Traynor. His particular expertise is in managing contentious litigation cases with complex cross-border and multi-jurisdictional claims.

Sector experience includes, Pharmaceutical, Property Development, Printing, Steel Manufacturing, Care Homes, Hotel & Leisure, Shipping, and Hedge Fund Managers.

Career highlight: travelling to Baghdad, Iraq for 4-days in 2014, to meet the Senior Executives of SIDDCO, Ministry of Industry and Mineral, to attempt to negotiate the recovery of a substantial debt owed to a UK entity; travelling the infamous ‘Route Irish’ and staying in a concrete bunker at the British Embassy in the International Green Zone.
