Linton Bloomberg is Of Counsel in the London office of Weil, Gotshal & Manges LLP. He specialises in domestic and international restructurings (including contingency planning), formal insolvency matters (contentious and non-contentious) and advising boards of companies. Linton regularly works for distressed corporates and investors, financial institutions, and insolvency practitioners.


Linton's representation's include:

  • the Lehman estate in chapter 11 in relation to UK and European issues, including its settlement with LBIE and affiliates ($1bn+) and various proceedings in the Court of Appeal and Supreme Court, including the Nortel/Lehman pensions case on the ranking of FSD and CNs
  • the special administrators of MF Global UK Limited in relation to and following the first ever filing under the Special Administration Regime
  • the sponsor in relation to the Citypoint CMBS restructuring (£500m+)
  • a senior noteholder (c.$500 million) in the Sigma SIV (structured investment vehicle), including overturning a Court of Appeal decision in the first ever U.K. Supreme Court judgment
  • an Irish UKLA-listed company with assets in multiple jurisdictions in relation to its restructuring
  • the board of directors of the U.K. subsidiaries of Dana Corporation in their pension restructuring
  • the board of directors and administrators of XL Airways Group (which was third largest tour operating company in the UK), Birthdays Limited (which operated a 300-store greeting card retail chain) and Connaught plc and several subsidiaries (over 10,000 employees)
  • one of the largest creditors with respect to the CVAs of JJB Sports (1&2), Focus DIY, Blacks Leisure and Oddbins
  • Honda Motor Company in relation to the administration of Super Aguri Formula 1 racing team and the subsequent MBO of Honda GP
  • one of the largest creditors with respect to the insolvencies of the Nortel Group
  • the administrators of MG Rover
  • the trustees of a high profile charity
