What to Expect
R3 Southern & Thames Valley Region is hosting a Technical Breakfast Briefing on directors’ duties and liabilities in the post-COVID and post-Brexit environment.
The session explores the new pressures facing directors, including potential personal liability arising from their duties, HMRC’s expanded powers to impose personal liability, and the Insolvency Service’s approach to director disqualification.
As the region’s first in-person seminar in this Technical Breakfast Briefing series since the start of the pandemic, the event provides an overview of recent case law, HMRC guidance and practical experience to help insolvency and restructuring professionals advise directors on these issues.
Topics include directors’ trust, knowledge and asset control duties, recent director liability and transaction avoidance decisions, HMRC’s powers under Finance Act 2020 Schedule 13, the potential impact of the Commercial Rent (Coronavirus) Bill, and current disqualification issues including bounce back loans, furlough-related matters and compensation orders.
The session includes both technical analysis and practical tips, with refreshments and a light breakfast provided.
