The next R3 Midlands Quarterly Regional Meeting will be hosted at PwC’s new 150,000 sq ft Birmingham offices in the landmark Paradise development.

The meeting will examine directors’ duties through the lens of BTI v Sequana, focusing on when directors’ duties to creditors begin and how that threshold should be understood. The session will explore the reasoning behind the decision and consider its possible shortcomings.

The programme will also look at the retail sector and the challenges it is facing, including trading performance over Christmas 2019 and early 2020, the implications for retailers, economic forecasts for 2020, changing consumer sentiment and spending priorities, and how retailers are responding in volatile conditions.

An update on R3’s activities in 2020 will also be included, marking the 30th anniversary of R3’s regional activities.
