Joel is a farmer’s son from Suffolk. For many years he worked on the family farm. Having been through succession planning at home Joel understands first-hand the issues that arise between family members. Joel advises estates and farmers in relation to strategic business planning including business continuity and succession issues, and share and contract farming issues. He helps them avoid litigation by understanding their needs and assisting them to communicate more effectively with one another. Joel acts for banks when taking security over rural land, driving through the process in order to secure draw down of funds for the bank and borrower in the shortest feasible time. He is the only specialist rural recoveries solicitor in England and Wales, advising LPA receivers when they are appointed over farms and estates. Joel uses his knowledge of the rural sector to more effectively advise receivers when dealing with often complex issues arising when security is enforced.
